One of the roles of schools is to teach students conformity to law and respect for authority. School systems in the United States also transmit the core values of the nation through manifest functions like social control. Today, since the culture of the United States is increasingly diverse, students may learn a variety of cultural norms, not only that of the dominant culture. In the early days of compulsory education, students learned the dominant culture. This socialization also involves learning the rules and norms of the society as a whole. Indeed, it seems that schools have taken on this responsibility in full. The French sociologist Émile Durkheim (1858–1917), who established the academic discipline of sociology, characterized schools as “socialization agencies that teach children how to get along with others and prepare them for adult economic roles” (Durkheim 1898). ![]() Beginning in preschool and kindergarten, students are taught to practice various societal roles. There are several major manifest functions associated with education. They contend that education contributes two kinds of functions: manifest (or primary) functions, which are the intended and visible functions of education and latent (or secondary) functions, which are the hidden and unintended functions. Functionalism Functionalists view education as one of the more important social institutions in a society. ![]()

2/18/2024 0 Comments Airdrop windows 10 download![]() In practice, Nearby Share runs as smoothly and uncomplicatedly as AirDrop. On top of that, Windows 10, Windows 11, ChromeOS or AndroidOS must be installed as software. To use Nearby Share, you need two devices that have a Bluetooth interface and are on the same network. Nearby Share lets you send data from your Android smartphone to your Windows computerĪnd the wait has definitely paid off for users. Google is even a bit ahead due to its compatibility with Windows devices. With Nearby Share, which saw the light of day in 2020, Google finally managed to give its operating system a counterpart to Apple’s AirDrop. You can also quickly send files from one device to another. This is called Nearby Share and actually offers exactly what AirDrop allows you to do. Windows and Android have now also launched a counterpart that connects both ecosystems. ![]() Nearby Shareīy the way, AirDrop is not a feature exclusive to the Apple cosmos. You can now use the individual PCs or smartphones like a file folder and move the desired documents into them. On the start page, you can see all devices that are currently in the network and also have Filedrop open. Filedrop also scores with a great overview. Once permission has been granted, however, this is no longer a problem. It is not uncommon for transfers to be blocked by the firewall. If the file transfer does not work right away, you should take a look at your system settings. Thus, files can only be sent between devices that have both the program installed and are on the same network. Filedrop for iOS (Image: Apple App Store) This is how you can find it for download in the Apple App Store. On top of that, the program can also be used on iPhone and iPad thanks to its compatibility with iOS. Unlike NitroShare, Filedrop is not only compatible with Windows and macOS. You don’t need any more storage devices and you’re not bound to annoying data limits within an email if you ever want to send pictures, videos or other documents. As with NitroShare and AirDrop, the advantages are obvious. Again, you can send files back and forth between devices that are on the same network. The similarity to AirDrop can be seen in the name of Filedrop. In addition, NitroShare offers support for macOS, Linux and, of course, Windows. Thus, you can find the app in the Google Play Store by now and download it there. The situation is different for AndroidOS. After all, the program doesn’t offer support for iOS. The problem with NitroShare is that it’s not available for your iPhone. ![]() ![]() What it means is that you can send data back and forth at high speed between devices that are on the same network. This starts with the basic idea of AirDrop. The program NitroShare should make the beginning. We would like to introduce you to three alternatives, NitroShare, Filedrop and Near Share. ![]() These even allow you to send files from your iPhone to your Windows PC in good old AirDrop fashion. After all, there are now attractive alternatives. But what seemed like a small revolution a few years ago has lost some of its magic in the meantime. After all, the tech company was once again living up to its reputation as a user convenience king. When Apple introduced its AirDrop feature a few years ago, the tech world was quite excited. 2/18/2024 0 Comments Calorie and food tracker app![]() ![]() What happens in the free MyFitnessPal version is if you burn 500 calories during your workout, it will tack on another 500 calories to your daily target. While it’s helpful to have an app that tracks calories burned, it’s only helpful if it’s accurate. One thing I don’t like about the free version is that it adds back your calories to your daily calorie target after you exercise. Most of my clients use the Premium version, and in my experience, I think it’s worth it. However, with the premium version, you have more customizability, such as the ability to set specific calorie and macro goals per meal. ![]() With the free version, there are still a lot of the basic features and the ability to record both food intake and exercise. There is both a MyFitnessPal free and paid version. My clients who use MyFitnessPal find it helps keep them on track, makes them more aware of their habits, and only takes a couple of minutes to input data. ![]() MyFitnessPal provides hundreds of helpful articles at your fingertips to learn diet, exercise, and lifestyle tips, as well as read inspirational weight loss stories from MyFitnessPal users. You can also track your weight loss progress and step count, set goals and participate in challenges, find recipes, and connect with a supportive community. The app homepage gives you a clear picture of your calories, macros, exercise, and water intake. It also syncs automatically with your fitness tracker, so any exercise you engage in will be added to the app and reflected in your total calories. It helps you keep track of calories, protein, fat, and carbs that you eat throughout the day. It is very user-friendly and has a lot of useful features. MyFitnessPal is one of the best food trackers and is the one I use most often with my clients. If you are new to tracking and are eating a wide range of foods, the MyFitnessPal free or paid version is a great choice to start. MyFitnessPal is one of the best calorie-counting apps out there with a large food database. If you’re curious about the best calorie-counting apps for your own weight loss journey, we’ll narrow down the top 5 to consider. Many of my weight loss clients use calorie-counting apps, and they tend to see more results on the weeks they track more consistently. In a world that often prioritizes instant gratification, Solitaire stands out as a bastion for the slower, more rewarding experience. This pacing ensures that when victory comes, it is the result of persistence and the ability to delay the desire for an immediate outcome. Unlike fast-paced games that offer immediate rewards and constant stimulation, Solitaire requires a player to work through the deck patiently, with the understanding that success may not be immediate. In this way, Solitaire trains the mind to be observant and deliberate, qualities that are essential for mindfulness.įurthermore, Solitaire is not a game of instant rewards it teaches players the value of delayed gratification. The rhythmic pattern of sorting and organizing the cards becomes a practice in patience and attentiveness, as one must remain aware of the present game state while also anticipating future moves. This singular concentration fosters a state of mindfulness, where external distractions fade away, allowing the player to engage in a form of active meditation. The solitary nature of the game encourages a player to be fully present in the moment, focusing on the cards, the possible moves, and the strategies to be employed. Others have emulsifiers added to them to ensure that they melt smoothly at low temperatures without breaking. Some cheeses, like feta or halloumi, have a protein structure so tight that no amount of heating will cause them to break or melt. Once the protein structure breaks down too much, individual micro-droplets of fat and water coalesce, breaking out of the protein matrix and causing the cheese to completely break. Depending on the type of cheese, this takes place at anywhere from around 120☏, for super-melty high-moisture process cheeses like Velveeta, all the way up to 180☏ and higher, for super-dry cheeses like well-aged Parmigiano-Reggiano. Continue to heat the cheese, and eventually enough of its protein bonds will break that it'll flow and spread like a liquid. Ever notice how a piece of cheese left out in the heat for too long forms tiny beads on its surface? Those are beads of milk fat. Other flavorful compounds present in cheese are mostly intentional by-products of bacteria and aging.Īs cheese is heated, the first part to go is the fat, which begins melting at around 90☏. Salt can have a profound effect on the texture-saltier cheeses have had more moisture drawn out of the curd before being pressed, so they tend to be drier and firmer. Salt and other flavorings make up the rest of the cheese. These micelles link together into long chains, forming a matrix that gives the cheese its structure. These proteins come together headfirst in bundles of several thousand, protecting their hydrophobic heads and exposing their hydrophillic tails to their watery surroundings. Individual milk proteins (the main ones are four similar molecules called caseins) resemble little tadpoles with hydrophobic (water-avoiding) heads, and hydrophillic (water-seeking) tails. Protein micelles are spherical bundles of milk proteins.Because of this, and because of their suspension, these tiny globules don't come into contact with each other to form larger globules: cheeses stay creamy or crumbly, instead of greasy. Milk fat in solid cheese is dispersed in the form of microscopic globules kept suspended in a tight matrix of protein micelles (more on those in a second).Famous hard cheeses, like Parmigiano-Reggiano and Pecorino Romano, may contain as little as 30 percent water after several years of aging. The longer a cheese is aged, the more moisture it loses, and the harder it becomes. Young cheeses like jack, young cheddars, and mozzarella have a relatively high water content-up to 80 percent. ![]() 2/17/2024 0 Comments Map dordogne elevation![]() The hilly landscapes and verdant valleys characterize this part of the trail, where hikers can explore well-preserved medieval villages such as Rocamadour and Sarlat.
